Passion…
Liz is passionate about empowering people to live to their true potential. As a speaker, trainer and mentor her aim is to inspire individuals and give them the tools to move forward in life.
Experience…
Liz grew up and was educated in South Africa. She did her Chartered Accountancy articles at Deloitte and after qualifying, spent some time working in the United States before coming to London and working for companies such a Disney and Virgin Retail Limited in financial management.
Shortly after becoming a mother to twin girls, Liz set up and ran her own financial consultancy business. She did this part-time to fit around her family commitments.
While there were parts of her profession as a Chartered Accountant that she enjoyed, it didn’t make her come alive. Over time Liz realised that her passion was actually speaking and helping people to achieve more from their lives.
Given her Chartered Accountancy background, she wrote her flagship course, Road Map to Financial Freedom, to help people make their money work for them and achieve financial freedom, which Liz defines as the freedom to choose what you do with your time and your money. She ran this course successfully in the United Kingdom and South Africa and has now turned it into an e-course as well.
Liz then realised that it wasn’t only finances that hold people back, but also the fact that they don’t know what it is that they really want to do with their lives. She decided to use her own journey of discovery and overcoming barriers to help others find and live their passion. This has since led to her speaking on a range of personal development topics.
Throughout Liz’s time working in the corporate world she was responsible for managing teams of people. This experience together with her eleven years as a volunteer counsellor and mentorship group leader for a London-based charity, Every Nation London, has given Liz invaluable insights into what motivates people and what their needs, fears and drivers are. She draws on this experience during her workshops and talks to inspire people to aspire to a preferred future as well as motivating and empowering them to take action.
Liz authors all her own courses and talks. She has written a 30 Day Money Makeover for an online international coaching business and regularly writes a column for them and other publications.
Social responsibility…
Growing up in South Africa and seeing the abject poverty that many live in, Liz firmly believes in social responsibility. She is particularly passionate about working with others to bring about social justice in Africa.
Currently Liz is on the board of directors of Thembalitsha UK, the UK arm of a South African-based charity, the Village of Hope. Her role, together with the rest of the board, is to provide strategic oversight for the South African operations. The Village of Hope is a step-down unit for children affected by or with HIV / AIDS.
Liz also contributes to the work of the Village of Hope by donating 100% of the proceeds from selected workshops to the charity.
Liz continues to give of her time as a volunteer counsellor and mentorship group leader for a London-based charity, Every Nation London.
Personal and family life…
Liz has been married to her husband, Alex, for 14 years. They have three children, twin girls aged five and a boy, aged 2 and a half. The Lugt family live in London but keep firm ties with South Africa.
